Happy December

Snow! Landon had a crazy night last night, so around 4:00, I went and slept in the car bed with him. What a surprise at 6:00 to wake up and see outside his window a white, white world! Later in the morning, Jordan bundled Landon all up and took him outside to stomp and shuffle and explore in the snow while he shoveled - and of course Landon helped with the shoveling too.

We drove up to Salt Lake today to help get April to the airport and bring her car back home to use while she's gone --  We stopped by Grandma Brough's first to visit. Not having called ahead, we caught her at lunch. She quickly got up to join us and take us up to her apartment, saying she had just about finished when we got there. After visiting for a few minutes, a friend of hers dropped by with the rest of her lunch, nicely packed up. :) She was very happy for our visit though, and even remembered Landon's name.

We went to Uncle Michael and Aunt Linda's where we chased Landon around while Jordan worked on Linda's computer and then we had a delicious lunch. Linda was happy to follow Landon around and get out more and more things for him to play with. At one point, we were sitting at the kitchen bar, and realized Landon was no longer at our side. With a quick search, we found him downstairs, happily sorting shelled pistachios back into the unshelled bowl and around the family room floor. He was not so happy to be discovered, but I was happy that he had made it so safely down the stairs in his adventure.

New Things for Landon!

New thing #1:
Yesterday, Landon said his first spontaneous word! He has lots of words that have sort of evolved over time into something that we can pretty much understand - words for mom, dad, bottle, dog, duck, please...
But, yesterday I was reading Landon a story and I pointed to a page with lots of babies, saying "baby, baby, baby" to which Landon responded, "baby, baby, baby" !! Each time I read the book, again he pointed to all the babies and said, "baby". Pretty cute!

New thing #2:
Landon  had his first attempt at 'If I don't get what I want from one parent, I'll go to the other.' I'd blocked him from going into the pantry, to his momentary dismay. But, then he quickly went and found Daddy and brought him to the pantry with something like an innocent "please" Luckily, Jordan was on my side this time. :)

Went to enrichment tonight where I got to relax and visit with friends and eat some yummy soup and cobbler... While Jordan battled with a cranky, post-bed-time Landon. Thankfully, he enlisted the help of Nathan under the guise of helping him out with some homework. :)

Stake Conference

I sang in the choir for Stake Conference today. I've had fun rehearsing for the past few Saturday's, and Jordan has enjoyed a few hours of Saturday morning free time, since I've taken Landon with me to the nursery there.  I love to sing with a choir. It's been especially fun to sing with a few friends who joined the choir simply to learn how to sing. These sweet women are so teachable and humble, just happy to be learning- such good examples.

The topic of the night was on fortifying families and creating strong foundations for our families. Good reminders on having family prayer, scripture study, and home evening  - all things which we are still trying to figure out how to work into our daily routines.

I love my boys!

Jordan and I went to the temple tonight with some of the Elders Quorum Presidency and did sealings. They've done a lot of updating to the landscaping at the Provo temple, and it is so beautiful. Even in your walk up to the temple from a Friday-night-far-away parking space, you feel so good. And, so nice to be in the temple with my sweetheart, Jordan.

We went out for ice cream afterwards at the creamery - great fun to have a yum treat and to visit with friends. I'm always so grateful for friends.

Drew was super nice and volunteered to watch Landon while we were still brainstorming on babysitting solutions. Supposedly, all went pretty well - Drew found the ABC Zoo and the Music Works Wonders shows, and experienced first hand the almighty hand of Landon Brough, taking him on endless tours of his apartment to look at new things. :)

And, after such a good night at the temple and a fun trip for ice cream, I was so excited to go pick up our sleepy little boy and bring him home. Like every other night, I got to hold him and sing to him, say a night-time prayer, then sit beside him till he drifted off to sleep. And, oh, how I just love this precious little boy!

Oh, and a just for fun -- Landon is learning so much! The other day I was singing popcorn popping while changing his diaper, and then I noticed that he was doing some of the actions. Popcorn popping his fingers, it wasn't really so waving his finger back and forth, making a popcorn ball... So cute!
And, Landon can now point to his head, ears, eyes, nose, mouth, tummy (though sometimes he thinks his tummy is around his toes...), his toes, feet, and fingers! Again, so cute!
