Jordan and Landon have been getting up early most mornings for the last several months to have a short little scripture reading/ morning devotional time. A little while ago, they started singing each day "Have I done any good in the world today?" and Jordan mentioned to me that they were trying to think of a better line to replace 'if not I have failed indeed' I remembered as a teenager how much I liked that song, but how much that line caused me stress! :)
So, here is our own new and improved version (And to Will L. Thompson, we hope you don't mind our change!)
Have I done any good in the world today?
Have I helped anyone in need?
Have I cheered up the sad and made someone feel glad?
Have I shown love in word and deed?
Has anyone's burden been lighter today
Because I was willing to share?
Have the sick and the weary been helped on their way?
When they needed my help was I there?
Then wake up and do something more
Than dream of your mansion above.
Doing good is a pleasure, a joy beyond measure,
A blessing of duty and love.
